The Conversation Partners Program matches native speakers of English with non-native speakers of English on campus and in the community for language support and cultural exchange. Partners meet weekly for about an hour to practice conversational English.

Benefits to English-speaking volunteers include:

  • Learning about another culture
  • Preparing for a semester abroad or overseas experience.
  • Learning more about one's own cultural heritage.
  • Engaging in a volunteer experience
  • Learning/practicing teaching skills
  • Offering friendship to a person from another culture

Partnership Agreement

Conversation Partners are expected to fill out a partnership agreement at their first meeting. The agreement form encourages both partners to discuss expectations and goals for participating, and to determine a mutually acceptable schedule and meeting place.
